This year's guest blogging contest was kicked off July 6th and is now coming to a close just over 9 weeks later. Unlike in past years, this time there are a whole list of winners to announce…
A big thank you to all the participants
This year's contest had 17 entries and a very eclectic mix ranging from articles about Twitter and other social media to business advice to poetry. I very much appreciate each guest post and the time and effort that went into creating it and promoting it, and all the participants deserve congratulations regardless of the contest results. Thank you all!

Final contest rankings
Traffic-generating tactics used
Now that you've seen who won and what they achieved, let's take a look at how they did it:
- Social networks played a big part in this year's contest. Israel won mostly with traffic from LinkedIn groups, but almost everyone also used Facebook and Twitter to promote their articles.
- Social bookmarking services – StumbleUpon had an impact on the results, but only one blogger (Mirko Humbert) also tried to use Digg.
- Writing about their guest post on their own blog – many of the participating bloggers did this.
- Emailing friends, family and contacts – if a blogger did any promotion at all for their entry, this was how they did it.
