Why I Stayed at the Same Company for 7 Years (and Counting)

One way of avoiding a job search is to stay and evolve with your current employer. This a guest post by Karen Cayamanda. If you’d also like to guest post here on JobMob, follow these guest post guidelines. It’s been more than seven years since I started working at an outsourcing company. In this time and age when everybody seems to be on a constant lookout for diversity in almost anything, the fact that I managed to stay at the same company for several years never fails to surprise other people. I don’t mind. In fact, I sometimes wonder how I did it, and why. I’ve always wanted to be a writer. A month after college graduation, I got a nice job offer - a start-up company was in need of a content writer for its network of websites. I got the job, and started writing about a wide range of topics. That was 2004.

Which World Leader Has the Best CV?

Vote for your favorite below. We searched for the English language resumes and CVs of prime ministers and presidents from around the world. Surprisingly- Many leaders didn't always have official versions of their CV online, and only two (!) had LinkedIn profiles. Since the results are too long to display in full size here, a snapshot image of each CV is shown instead, and you can click a snapshot image to open the full version in a new browser tab or window. Look through the choices and then vote at the bottom of the article. In alphabetical order by country...

Professional Recruiters: Job Seeker Friend or Foe?

Professional recruiters make a living finding the perfect match: They help employers find the best employees, and they assist job seekers, when possible, in their job search to find the position that best matches their skills, experience, and salary requirements. But, in the end, a professional recruiter is hired – and paid – by the client who is seeking employees. That begs the question: Are professional recruiters your friend or your foe? Let’s consider the advantages and disadvantages of the professional recruiter, so you can decide for yourself.

Happy 4th Birthday to JobMob

Starting a 5th year and counting... Although JobMob's first blog article appeared back in December 2006, I waited until March 21st 2007 before officially launching the site with press releases and fanfare. Part of it was that I didn't really know much about blogging back then, and part of it was that I just wasn't sure in which direction JobMob would go. Of course with that name, it would be mostly about job search (although the first article wasn't) and I always felt it could appeal to a wide audience (although the first articles didn't), but it took some time for me to discover my blogging voice or rather, for me to really become comfortable with growing that voice in public, with its ups and downs while you, my kids, the Googlebot and just about anyone was watching. That must be why one of the first posts was a craptacular piece about making mistakes in public and coming out smelling like roses.
