About this event
Happy Fall! As the 2021-22 academic year begins, our initiative remains committed to providing career and professional development opportunities to support local early-career women in STEM. Hence, our monthly mentorship program, STEM Circuits, will kick-off virtually this fall on October 21, 2021 with an informative discussion on strategizing your job search. The session will be led by Dr. Tracy Costello, a career coach and professional development trainer across various platforms, who will discuss the job search process. Afterwards, we will open the floor to the audience for a Q&A session with the speaker.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Chicago Women in STEM Initiative

Description: Career exploration and the job search process may feel like a rollercoaster but understanding the big picture will help you navigate it successfully. For many facing an upcoming career transition, it is natural to look at the vast landscape of career opportunities and worry about how to choose or prepare. This lecture focuses first on strategies for networking, including tips for virtual conferences and to make your online profile stand out, and second, strategies for a successful job search. The job search can be broken into four primary steps: 1. identification of opportunities, 2. preparation of application materials, 3. interviewing, and 4. negotiation. We’ll discuss resources, best practices, and tips to connect with opportunities and present your best self to impress hiring managers.
Learning objectives: Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of strategizing their job search, how to develop required application materials with a focus on resumes and LinkedIn profiles, and actionable tips to improve interviewing and negotiation.
We can't wait to see everyone virtually at our event! Please reach out if you have any questions about the event or our organization.
