Networking: the word that strikes terror into the heart of many job seekers. Instantly, the horrifying image of walking into a crowded room of 200 people springs to mind, with everyone trying to shove their business cards at each other and make a positive impression with strangers in less than five minutes.

However, this is NOT an effective use of networking when it comes to job searching. In this case, networking is about building trust and relationships. We start first with those closest to us and then build on that success to give us confidence to reach out to people we don’t know yet – in person, on the phone, via email, and through social media.

Each month, we explore a topic related to job searching, with a 45-60 minute presentation followed by open networking time.

The vision of the group is to educate our members, while providing an opportunity to meet with other job seekers for support and connection.

We will send out a notice of the upcoming presentation before the next Meetup.
