How to Write Compelling Correspondence

Cover letters and other job-search correspondence require the same amount of attention and care as your résumé. Don’t miss out on opportunities to use a variety of written communication tools to make a positive impression on a potential employer or to expand your network! In this workshop you will learn to 1) develop a well-crafted cover letter, 2) write meaningful LinkedIn messages and thank-you notes, and 3) connect with and enlist the help of people in your network. Discover techniques and templates that you can adapt for many writing scenarios and how to use them to showcase your communication skills.

• Develop customized cover letters, LinkedIn messages, targeted email, and thank-you notes that generate action

• Present an image of you as a great communicator

• Insert keywords (when appropriate) into your correspondence necessary for the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)

• Increase the impact and results of your writing

Materials Recommended: Copies of correspondence you’ve recently written.
