How to promote yourself in your job and at interviews

Over the past 2 months we’ve been running workshops, open to anyone, to help develop interview skills. Now we’re taking it a step further….. how you can really make yourself stand out as a candidate and an employee!

Of course you can never replace the specific skills you need for a particular role, but one area that we so often fall down on is the way we communicate our successes. Often you’ll complete a task above and beyond the call of duty…… and who knows? It’s great to have that internal pride in a job well done, but how about making sure that a few others know – like your boss, or their boss! Or even in interviews.

We’ll be looking at the ways you can raise your standing in the eyes of the employer, talking about what is important and trying out some ideas. This is a workshop so there will be plenty of opportunity to practice some of those ideas and as usual there will be plenty of question answering time.

This evening session is being run by Leighton Buzzard Speakers, a community club. We focus on involvement with the local community sharing the many years of experience in developing better communication skills. For this series of workshops which we have been running for the past 18 months we have welcomed participants from all over the world (many where English is not their 1st language), helping them in their speaking, presentation, interviewing and storytelling skills.
