CLASS: Job Interview Workshop

PREPARE FOR YOUR JOB INTERVIEW

Are you interested in getting a job in New York City? Or anywhere in the United States?

Getting hired in a place like NYC can be difficult — even if you are native speaker. If your English is not fluent, you have additional challenges.

Join an exclusive group of students as we work together for about two hours to prepare you for what to expect during a job interview in NYC.

This workshop will show you what to expect in a job interview in New York. We will discuss:

• The different types of interviews, from “HR phone screeners” to in-person meetings to your final interview;
• How different industries will interview you;
• Dressing appropriately;
• Words and expressions used by recruiters and hiring managers;
• How to negotiate your salary (“knowing your worth”).

We will practice with real interview questions, and roleplay different situations you may encounter.

The class is limited to twelve (8) students. Tickets are $30.

You will be taught by an teacher with more than eight years of experience. He has worked in corporations in New York for more than 20 years. He has managed and hired dozens of people.

He will teach you ways to prepare for an interview. He will provide techniques to practice at home. You will feel more confidence when you enter the interviewer's office.

* * * ABOUT THE TEACHER * * *

Tom is a native New Yorker: He grew up in Brooklyn. He has lived and traveled in Europe and Asia, and understands what it is like to learn a new language.

Tom earned a degree in English from Pace University. For more than 20 years, he has worked as a writer and editor for national magazines and websites.

Tom taught English speaking, writing, and pronunciation at NYC's well-known International Center for over six years. He now works as an ESL tutor.
