About this event
The Skills Imperative 2035
Essential Employment Skills for Tomorrow’s Workforce
Dr Lisa Morrison Coulthard
Research Director │National Foundation for Educational Research
The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) is leading a multidisciplinary team, funded by the Nuffield Foundation, on a five year research programme to identify the essential employment skills people will need for work by 2035.
New technologies, coupled with major demographic and environmental change, are predicted to transform employment over the coming decades. Skills such as creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, problem solving and resilience are likely to become increasingly important for jobs across the economy.
In this free seminar, Lisa will present an overview of the research programme and the outputs published so far, including a literature review on what the world of work will look like in 2035 and which essential employment skills will be in demand and how should we prepare; and recently published estimates of the future size and composition of the labour market.
