About this event
Join our webinar, Creating Inclusive Job descriptions with Sheridan Ray and Ashleigh Cibelli-Pettus Chairs from the Youth Leadership working group, a strategy of the City of Austin Cities Connecting Children to Nature program. The group imagines an Austin in which young people can easily access careers in the outdoors, nature, and the environment, are fairly compensated for their contributions, and that the field, and leadership within, represent the communities we serve.
Â
When was the last time you wrote a job description? Do you start with a standard template or dig up an old description that was posted when you were hiring for a previous role? Maybe you make a few updates, type out your list of qualifications and key duties, paste in a legal disclaimer about being an equal opportunity employer, and then call it a day.
We may think it’s only the job description—how much does it matter? It matters.
Â
Join us to cover how to use an equitable lens to create inclusive job descriptions. We will discuss how to write these descriptions and/or ways to revise current job postings/descriptions. Our goal is to reduce barriers for those applicants that may offer more experience than formal education and attract a large range of qualified applicants.
