Ask The Readers: How Should JobMob Evolve?

After a new logo, now it's time to discuss a new blog design. After Round 1 Voting for a new JobMob logo and then the followup Round 2 Voting, the final logo is being tweaked by my designers from Emske.com. With a new logo and brand on the way, a fresh new look for JobMob is next on the todo list. More than a new look, a redesign is a great opportunity to re-imagine what JobMob can be, and how the site can help more job seekers than ever.

Surprising Results of The 1st JobMob Census

From early November through early January, you responded. On November 7th, 2013, I asked you guys to Please Take The 2-minute 2013 JobMob Census. First off- big thanks to everyone who responded. And hopefully you responded right away, while others needed a lot of prodding and shoving a reminder or two (which is ok, since we're all suffering from email overload, right?). Google Docs' form features made the survey easy to set up, and all your replies were conveniently saved in a spreadsheet while the Summary of Responses feature quickly provided the easy to read graphs coming up below. In addition to each survey question and its results, I'll tell you what I was expecting, and as you'll see, things didn't always come out the way I thought they would.

It’s JobMob’s 7th Birthday!

7 years and counting. It's been a strange year. A few people have even asked whether I've lost interest in blogging, or they've just come out and said that I seem to be putting in less effort than usual. The latter is actually true. I did put in less effort this past year than usual. And you can tell: * JobMob readership continues to grow, albeit more slowly than in recent times, while traffic has dropped significantly both from search engines and social media. * People are still sharing JobMob articles at a high rate but we're all suffering more than ever from info-overwhelm, leading fewer people to click through and visit even if they do go on to reshare the link that was first shared with them. But this isn't because I've lost interest, mind you, not even close. Rather, it was because I've been focused on creating an Internet startup company. (Surprised? Tell me in the comments) You'll hear more about that soon enough, but in the meantime, change is coming and you can expect me to remove all doubts anyone's having about my ongoing commitment to you and JobMob. Next year, I'm going to look back on the best year yet and hopefully you will too. Count on it. And it's already begun...
