I am alarmed that more and more employers are instituting extremely long working days. Some employers, asked about lunch breaks, state that nobody takes breaks, they may go to get something and bring it back and eat at the desk! Is there no legal requirement for some form of break after a specific number of hours?

i am a nurse working in the private sector. working an evening shift is from 14.00 till 21.00
do i have any extra pay on top of my basic for unsocial hours?
